A diner, M. Hobbs, drew this one night recently.
Google gives three results as of this moment.

For a moment one of them turned into a horse while jumping on and off of a moving car (horsing around.) I took them to see my old apartment which was now occupied by two kids and an older man with dark hair and a mustache. The interior was very posh, carpeted in blue and filled with high tech appliances. The man smiled dimly and hastened my leave. Later I was told he was a consultant to various non-profits around town. Model D is the first source to bookmark for anyone who intends to invest or spend, time or money, in Detroit. So I am honored to be the subject of a Model D interview this week. Someday I hope to write and take pictures as well as those guys do.
Coming soon to this blog, a report on Mike's Famous Ham on Michigan Avenue, and maybe a followup from one of my east side friend's favorite ham shacks (which one will it be?)
You can follow me on twitter, via updates from Everyday Wines, and/or Slows BBQ. I can also recommend Western Market's @jarred_ for more frequent and off-the-cuff insights into the city and its tastes.
What words do we use to talk about wine relationships. "Genre" implies that wine is high art, permanent and fungible. "Peer" is a anthropomorphism, but deemable in my view. After all, wines learn from each other.

Also, I twitter. As me, and as a contributor to Slows BBQ and Everyday Wines. There's just that much to write about it.
Kulmbacher Edelherb. This comes all the way from Franconia in northern Bavaria. It must be asked: is light lager identical to mass industrial production? Can slow, carefully elaborated pilsner be reclaimed for lovers of pale malt and noble hops? A good test is the pour. How enduring is the froth on top? Another test - the point where love of beer either advances or concedes - is in the smell. Crackery, golden blooms and cured piney herbs. Then comes the drink: mouth filling volumes of flavor with its own rhythm and tempo, from begin to end, with the latter cleansing and inviting of another drink. This beer is available at Slows Barbeque, Everyday Wines and my fridge.
So much for breakfast. What wine with lunch?

I picked these grapes from a huge wild vine at Western High School. I thought I'd make wine.

Twice a week I pack a bag and head out on the open highway to Ann Arbor. I go there to visit my family and to work in my favorite wine shop - Everyday Wines.
This Saturday, adjacent to the store, you will find a festival celebrating locally grown and made foods and beverages. Slows' chef Mike will prepare his memorable corn chowder. Details here:

If you're ever stuck with a takeout container filled with Slows' pulled pork bark - *if* - you just need to chop it. Secure a bottle of 2008 de Tarczal Gewurztraminer and a pint of Calder Dairy buttermilk. Reheat the pork bark in a skillet, cool it with a bubbling pour of buttermilk and eat it on bread, potatoes or pasta with a glass of the wine.
Now it's time to go to work at a job I love.

Sweetwater Tavern is on the corner of Brush and Congress. KT urged me to try their chicken wings Without words, he said 'words can't describe them.' They are the best thing he's ever eaten in Detroit.
I cut through the Labor Day Sunday crowds on my bike and admired how Jazzfest provides an occasion for kicking back, and wearing shorts.

Last week Supino celebrated its one year anniversary. More than a hundred people came to Farnsworth Community Garden to congratulate Dave Mancini on his success. Mary gave me the day off from Everyday Wines so that I could take pictures (a.k.a "eat and drink.")
It rained, but that did not stop folks from lining up for gelato and peaches.
