Last night I arrived at Annam a good hour early, so I decided to have a walk across the street to see what was happening at the old Merchant's Warehouse.

Detroit's Southwest has a new celebrity chef: Norberto Garcia.

I'm lobbying for a few of my favorite wines.
Barbacoa de Chivo means BBQ goat. It is a specialty. I detect pride in it here.
Last Saturday I ordered it. By self-imposed restrictions I ordered Lu2on Jumilla with the black label.
The goat was literally a religious experience. Spoonable, pink near the neat bone, lacking any ohther challenging fat or other non-muscle tissue, it was like a mammal truffle.
The wine, unfortunately, was pretty damn poor though. Our table of 4 capable lushes could not finish it.

One of my favorite political bloggers is Matt Yglesias. He bounces around the internet umbrella rack, spending time at Talking Points Memo, the atlantic and now Think Progress. He is sort of a left-libertarian, the dinosaurs use the term "glibertarian." Is he independent?
are you? am I?

Jarred has a new blog. It's called "Chicken & Waffles."
I've heard black restaurants in Los angeles feature chicken and waffles. There is one restaurant on Livernois between 6 and 7 mile (east side) that advertises chicken and waffles, but I've never been in.
Inspired by all of this chicken and waffle talk, one day I decided to make chicken as waffles. I topped it off with a tomato, let's call it, "chutney."
It was good.
Jarred is a good wine dealer. He has vital qualities seldom found in wine consultants: curiosity, faith in his customers, and the ability to switch gears. Some wines are better than others, but every situation is different.

All of this on one day. imagine that. Tell your friends, if they are truly friends-
1 Anne has her birthday,
2 Steve Jarosz' big Cuban salsa ensemble, dancing is easy
3 Gleaners benefits ($20 worth of $30 ticket)
4 Extremely rare bottles of Chateau d:Oupia will be poured at no extra charge.
5 Tour inside an antique custom car body factory on Beaufait and Kercheval. Tour guided by one-time wine shopppe newsletter-writer (no refunds).

"If the food is very soft or flaky (for example, fish), some choose to disregard the knife entirely, using a fork in their right hand and cutting their food by pressing down with the edge or with the tines of their fork. Sawing at the food in this way is considered bad form."
